Geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) are factory manufactured hydraulic barriers to water, leachate or other liquids and sometimes gases. It consists of a layer of bentonite or other very low-permeability material supported by geotextiles and/or geomembranes, mechanically held together by needling, stitching, or chemical adhesives.
Cement mat is a flexible, impermeable, fibre reinforced geocomposite, contains cement and sand impregnation within the geotextile fabrics which, after wetting, sets to a compressive strength of 80MPa concrete.
Sand mat composite is a three-layer geocomposite with encapsulated quartz sand that allows the installation of a geotextile filter under difficult site conditions.
Root barrier is developed to protect highways, foundations, waterproofing, pipes and other services, etc. from damage arising as a result of tree root penetration. Tree roots predominantly grow in the upper surface of the soil and spread out extensively laterally from the trunk. A good root system is essential to sustain healthy tree growth but the roots can be deflected to grow harmlessly to avoid damage to adjacent structures or services. Root barrier can be installed around the tree or adjacent to the structure or wrapped around the pipe, etc. It is available in two styles and each consist of robust flexible polymer (HDPE or LLDPE) sheets that resist penetration by roots.
